Community Service Day release
TUESDAY, SEP 7, 2010
Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Central New York (CCCS), a non-profit consumer education and financial literacy organization, will educate and entertain families at its second annual "CCCS Carnival for Building a Better Community", Saturday, Sept. 18, 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. at Johnson Park in Liverpool. The event is free and open to the public.
Through a variety of activities for adults and children, the Family Fun and Financial Literacy Day will give visitors the opportunity to learn about family finance and explore services offered by CCCS, while having a great day in the park. Participants will also be entertained by co-sponsor B-104.7 and radio personality Becky Palmer.
Children's activities will include face painting, a bouncy house and coloring contests. Adults can test their knowledge on a credit education quiz and visit the financial education stations. There will also be raffles and an auction offering many prizes including a variety of themed gift baskets.
The community is also able to bring items that need to be shredded to the event to be done for free by Cintas. In addition, CCCS is also asking visitors to support the needy in the community by bringing a canned food item to donate.
Not only will our guests enjoy a fall afternoon with friends and family, and share in fun activities together, but they will also walk away with new insights about finance and practical advice that will make their day-to-day financial decision making more manageable, MaryAnn Stark, CCCS of CNY President and CEO, said.
According to Stark, this event will also launch the Agency's plan to promote its recently received $200,000 grant from Chase Card Services, the credit card division of JPMorgan Chase & Co. to help support its Family Financial Fitness Program. A special guest and cartoon hero, Aquatique from the Centsables, will be making a live appearance.
